I finished my 2nd levi quilt today. It's been months and months since I started it and it feels GREAT to be done with it. Eli was pretty happy with it except he wants me to make one for him that doesn't stay on his bed. We will see if this one really does stay there anyway. He proceeded to jump up and down on his bed in excitement after I laid it out and the 2nd picture is of him flopping down on the bed. He is definitely a blanket kid. He doesn't love any specific blanket but any that he can "relax" on. Relaxing is his favorite thing.

Gelato
I can't even describe the joy that I felt while eating this delicious treat. It seriously was the best think that I have eaten in a long time. It is one of those treats that it worth every penny and calorie.
It was so good I'm taking Stewart back tonight...actually we are all taking our hubby's there tonight. So bring on the gelato!

Sorry Mom
My mom HATES it when we cut Eli's hair short. I have always been a short hair on boys kinda girl. Even this is a little too short for me so I am sure that my mom is going to freak out. He's such a cute skinny-necked baby boy if you ask me! When Stewart came home and picked Eli up Eli said "Two baldys."
I have been gone from the blogging world for 2 weeks now. I don't know why because we have been doing some really fun stuff. Just the thought of sitting down and blogging is too much! So here I will hurry and play catch-up.
We went hiking on the pipeline trail up Millcreek Canyon. Eli was a super hiker again and led the way. He is such a tough guy.
Last weekend Eli and I went to my parents while Stewart was at drill. Eli had the best day there. He "worked" in the garden with my dad and "taught" him a few things about gardening. On the way home on Saturday I asked Eli if he liked playing in the dirt and Eli said (very forcifully) "I wasn't playing in the dirt! I was working in the garden with Grandpa. I was helping Grandpa because I'm his team."
Today Eli asked if we could go to Grandpa's house. I said no and asked why he wanted to go. He said: "just to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa and other Grandma. And Grandpa needs my help in the garden! He really needs a lot of help!"
So Dad, hopefully you read this blog and always have some work for Eli to do at your house!

Eli: all dressed up
This is Eli's mummy costume. It took me 2 tried and 3 weeks to make it and it's not really that god of a job but Eli likes it so that's all that matters. If you ever see him in it you had better pretend that you are scared and that he really looks like a mummy or he will be really disappointed.
It's ok if you get confused and call it a zombie costume...he doesn't care. :)
Also mention how it's cool that it's green because it's grosser and moldier. He was pretty sure that mummies were white but I set him straight.

It Really Happened!
Today was an absolutely wonderful day. Stewart commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant (2LT) and he is also graduated! We had such a great time in Logan for this long awaited event. I was so proud of Stewart today. He looked so sexy and cool in his army greens.
He was sworn in by LTC Curtis who was the commanding officer of the ROTC when Stewart was up there. Stewart's mom and I pinned on Stew's gold bars. It was such a neat program and I was a little emotional as Stewart was being sworn in. I think that it's so awesome how he wants to serve his country. Stewart used to want to be a helicopter pilot but now he wants to be in an armor unit. He has said that he will be happy with whatever he gets because he just wants to serve in the army. We will have to wait until the beginning of September to find out what he assesses in but just getting college over and done with is a huge relief!
Stewart gave me a really pretty necklace in honor of my part in his graduation. :) (it's so nice to be appreciated!) His parents and I went in on a shotgun for 2LT Brough because I didn't want to see what it looked like for a 2LT to cry.
It was just a really GREAT day and I'm so happy that it has come and passed without incident.
The first part of this video is the officers oath. Hopefully you can hear it because it's really neat. The second part is the pinning of the gold bars and the third is the silver dollar salute.

Pinning the bars.

A happy mother!

The Horror
The FrontRunner: To be used as a torture device for mothers with small children and the people who sit around them.Apology to some of the people who were on the 1:55 pm FrontRunner train that had to sit by me today:
I'm so sorry that you had to listen to 3 children scream and laugh and fight and play for 3 hours. I'm SO sorry that you "felt like you were in a daycare." I'm sorry that you couldn't say to my son, "your mother sure raised you right" like you could say to the little boy that sat across from us who "didn't make a sound the whole ride."
I'm also sorry that when we got to Ogden and you tried to get away from us by going to the upper level we followed you. If I could change this day I would! I would definitely NOT get on the FrontRunner Train. If I had to get on the train I would have gotten off in Woods Cross and caught the next train back to Salt Lake.
Yes, I rode the FrontRunner. For 3 hours today. It was Hell. My friend Heidi and I took her 2 girls and Eli and decided to go for a ride. Our kids get really hyper with each other and it was horrible they were so loud and crazy. We weren't' ignoring them though! We tried to get them to be quiet. We failed though. But still, we tried! The train that we were on kept getting delayed and it was just awful. And yes, some old lady really said those things above.
My review is this: The FrontRunner is so great if you live north and need to get into Salt Lake. Also, if you can go 80 whatever miles an hour then you should do that every chance you get!
One Example That We Are Bad Parents (Mostly Stewart)
While helping Eli buckle his seatbelt today I kinda pinched his finger. Not enough to make him cry but enough that it hurt. So we start leaving the parking lot and I realize that Eli is in the back making the sounds that are in the video below!
If you can't tell that's Peter Griffin from Family Guy. There is a better clip of the show here but it's like 2 minutes or something.
Eli LOVES Family Guy. Stewart started it so I blame him. When Family Guy is on Eli runs in to tell Stewart so that they can bond over naughty comedy. Stewart and I laughed so hard when we heard Eli copying Peter. It was funny in a sad kinda way.
